Mr. Smiley Face

I walked through the woods

I shiver as I walk

My breath is warm and sticky

I walk at a faster pace

My breathing is now complicated

Running as fast as I can

I will not fall

I will not smile

But here he comes

Mr. Smiley Face

With his hands so cold

He reaches out and grabs me

I yelp in fear

The next day on the news

‘Murder in the woods’

Asleep

 Happily I sing a song

To myself

I smile cheerifuly

To myself

I begin to shake

I begin to shiver

I huddle in a corner

I yell in fear

I yell in anger

‘Not me’

‘Not today’

‘Leave me alone’

‘I’m here to say’

I feel a hand

Crawl up my back

I gasp for air

My lungs burn

‘No’

‘Why me’

I fall asleep

Crying

I awake in a coffin

‘NO’

I yell

I beat the hood

I fall asleep

This time

For good

Voices

I frown as I write

‘Demented’ I say

Why must they all end this way?

Murder, Death, and Fear

Oh my!

Clear my mind for happy thoughts

Creepy doesn’t even describe

Me

I cannot think pleasantly

I cannot think happily

When all these voice

Keep pestering me

Leaves

The leaves are changing

So am I

The leaves are dying

So am I

The leaves are falling

So am I

The leaves are gone

So am I

The leaves are back

And I am not

(Inspiration from ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by John Green)

Fear

Fear

A four letter word

Fear

It hides within us

Fear

It consumes us all

Fear

Don’t look now

Fear

Its coming for you

Haiku

Haiku

Sweet smelling flowers

The aroma of poppies

Sleep dear Dorothy

Taken so young

My dear, may you rest in peace

Fifty-four years old

Sizzle, sizzle, pop

Bacon is so delicious

Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch

Plitter, platter, plop

The rain comes down in big drops

Plitter, platter, splat

Little Tiny Pearl

Couplet

There was a little girl

Whose name was Tiny Pearl

 She had short brown hair

And loved to be at the fair

All she did was read

Until one night she finally agreed

Little Tiny Pearl

Is no longer a girl
